Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado also said he and the phone service vendor came to an agreement in the last year to lower inmate phone price rates, and that the previous rates were likely gouging inmates and their families.
State corrections officials expressed several concerns about CoreCivic’s plans to close the facilities, including sending prisoners nearing release from one of the best performing reentry facilities to one of the worst performing facilities.

Other motorcyclists who were at the scene of the fatal crash say they were told by the deputy to leave, while the deputy’s report says he told them to stay.
Five staff members were injured and taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries during the May 16 assault.
