Annual Reports

The Frontier has a mission to produce fearless, independent journalism with impact. We hold those in power accountable, give a voice to the powerless and tell stories that matter to Oklahomans.

We strive to produce fair, accurate reporting governed by our code of ethics. The Frontier’s journalism has garnered awards from the Tulsa Press Club; Freedom of Information Oklahoma and the Scripps Howard Foundation among others. Read more about the impact of our work here.

Publisher Robert Lorton III and a team of Oklahoma journalists launched The Frontier in 2015 in response to cutbacks at traditional news outlets in the state. Today, our newsroom is managed by The Frontier Media Group Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation overseen by an independent board of directors. The Frontier is a member of The Institute for Nonprofit News and The Oklahoma Media Center.

We have partnered on past reporting projects with national and local news outlets including ProPublica; Reveal for the Center for Investigative Reporting; The Marshall Project; KOSU; The Curbside Chronicle and KJRH-TV among others.

We do not accept advertising but welcome financial support from donors who believe in our mission and want to support local investigative journalism. Your contribution will allow us to continue our coverage and grow our staff.
Readers may contact our staff with news tips or questions. To keep up with The Frontier’s latest reporting, subscribe to our weekly newsletter and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
